about
I wrote this song in my bedroom over a period of time as I struggled with OCD and anxiety. Putting the lyrics on paper was part of my healing process. I think people will relate to my song because unfortunately, too many young people deal with mental illness at some point in their lives. I want them to know that they don’t have to struggle with mental illness alone and it’s definitely ok to talk about it. I am working on other songs for my currently unnamed EP and hope to express in these songs the same kind of rawness and authenticity as I do in Brain on Fire.
lyrics
Verse
It happened out of nowhere, a match ignited in me
Couldn’t stop my thoughts from burning
They warped my sense of reality
Most days I am a dead girl held captive by my inner demons
I’m like a phantom cause no one ever noticed
Pre-chorus
With each cut I stop the pain
But it always comes back the same
I’ve been fighting this battle on my own
No one knows…
Chorus
My brain’s on fire
Sure feels like a living hell
My brain’s on fire
Free me from this prison cell
My brain’s on fire
I’m losing my own fucking self
My brain’s on fire
My brain’s on fire
Verse
Sometimes I find peace when I hide from the world
Seeking comfort within these four walls
The silence can be deafening
But I don’t want them seeing, who have I become
Pre-chorus
With each cut I stopped the pain
But it always comes back the same
I don’t want to fight this on my own
But, no one knows…
Chorus
My brain’s on fire
Sure feels like a living hell
My brain’s on fire
Free me from this prison cell
My brain’s on fire
I’m losing my own fucking self
My brain’s on fire
Bridge
I don’t wanna keep quiet
Cannot hide my truth anymore
Chorus
My Brain’s on fire
Sure feels like a living hell
My brain’s on fire
Free me from this prison cell
My brain’s on fire
I’m losing my own fucking self
My brain’s on fire
My brain’s on fire
